Following the controversy over the Confederate Flag, as well as the continuing debate over the R*dskins symbol, one historian reportedly looks at the Saints’ logo, the fleur de lis, as a symbol reminiscent of slavery.

Off The Grid From our friends at The Global Dispatch, one slave historian allegedly has expressed concerns over the NFL’s New Orleans Saints’ logo: “As an African I find it painful, and I think people whose ancestors were enslaved here may feel it even harder than I do as an African,” said slave historian Dr. Ibrahima Seck

What does it all mean? What’s really at stake? And what happens after this?

Off The Grid The United States government and five other countries – Britain, France, Russia, Germany and China – are entering final negotiations today with Iran in Vienna, Austria. The deal’s aim: to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.  The deal imposes restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program and allows for outside inspections to ensure the country is meeting

According to PBS, Bernie Sanders is “gaining against Clinton in early polls.”

Off The Grid Bernie’s definitely got momentum. The question is, can Bernie keep it going for another year and a half and take the democratic nomination from those lining Hillary’s pockets?  It’s possible Bernie could win all the elections and still not get the nomination from the Democratic Party because, technically, he’s still an Independent. He just joined

NPR reports “President Obama has commuted the sentences of 46 mostly nonviolent drug offenders, nearly all of whom, the White House says, would have already served their time if they were convicted of the same crime today.”

Jen Hobbs Obama has now issued close to 90 commutations to mostly non-violent offenders.  Last year the president commuted the sentences of eight people. Here are the 46 people whose sentences Obama commuted today, and according to NPR, most of these people faced at least 20 years behind bars and 14 of them had been prepared to spend the rest

Michigan is allegedly parting ways with prison food vendor Aramark by “mutual agreement” and moving to a new contractor, Trinity Services Group, the state announced today.

Jen Hobbs According to Lansing State Journal, a transition will begin on July 29 for a new contractor to provide prison food to inmates on Sept. 9 — that’s “three months shy of the two-year mark of Aramark’s three-year, $145-million contract with the state of Michigan.” Why is the State of Michigan ending its contract with Aramark? Last August, CDC senior scientist, Dr. William Thompson, reportedly invoked federal whistleblower status and confessed that the CDC has allegedly known since 2001 that black American male children exposed to the MMR vaccine have a disproportionate risk of autism.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Thompson, a 17 year CDC veteran, is the author of some of the leading studies cited by CDC to exculpate vaccines from the autism epidemic.  Thompson, who still works at CDC, released the raw data sets that he says his bosses at CDC ordered him to conceal.  Those data allegedly show

Vigilant viewers, I know you’ve heard a lot about my defamation case against the American Sniper book. Again, I can’t thank my supporters enough. Unfortunately it’s come to my attention that Big Media is not only after me, but they are also after you, and your rights as a citizen of the United States.

Off The Grid As everyone knows, I won a defamation lawsuit against Chris Kyle and the American Sniper book and I won $1.84 million: $500,000 for defamation and $1.3 million in unjust enrichment, because the estate had made nearly $6 million off of this book. The truth came out; the story was a lie to

The Institute for Justice reports that civil forfeiture laws allow the government to take cash, businesses, cars, homes and other property suspected of being involved in criminal activity. Here’s how law enforcement abuses the system.

Brigida Santos Civil forfeiture laws allow the government to take cash, businesses, cars, homes and other property suspected of being involved in criminal activity. What’s so crazy is that the property owner doesn’t even have to be charged with or convicted of a crime to permanently lose his or her property, as is the case with criminal forfeiture.  Related Story Cop

Residents of the California port city of Oakland are pushing back by developing the first enforceable city legislation to regulate the purchase and use of surveillance equipment by law enforcement agencies. If approved, the legislation could make Oakland a national trailblazer for privacy rights campaigners alarmed at the rise of cameras, “stingrays” and other surveillance technologies used by law enforcement.

Off The Grid   I think it looks good on paper. I applaud the city of Oakland for doing it. They should and so should other cities. I’ve got news for you though: a federal law takes precedence over any local law. So even though they passed this at the local level, the federal law

Looks like Colorado’s marijuana tax incentive for schools just set records and has collected more money in the first half of the year than all of 2014.

Off The Grid Local news outlet KOAA out Colorado are reporting that the state has hit record highs in regards to marijuana tax incentives for school construction.   KOAA reports that the first five months of 2015 alone have surpassed all of 2014.   Related Story Off The Grid: Prison Inmates May Soon Be Getting Federal Money

Sen. Bernie Sanders is pushing new legislation to raise the minimum wage for all workers to $15 an hour. The Democratic presidential candidate will introduce the minimum wage bill Wednesday. Sanders has long called for a $15 minimum wage, but this is the first bill he is introducing to do so. It’s believed to be the highest minimum wage that has ever been proposed by legislation in Congress.

Off The Grid   I’d like to see them implement a maximum wage. If you can’t live off of $100,000,000 a year, there’s something wrong with you. There’s not a person on the planet that should make more than that in one year. What could you possible spend it all on? Related Story Jesse Ventura: Bernie
